According to a post Monday on the national website Realtor.com, Wichita is actually one of the most affordable places in the country to own a dream home.

In a piece written by Lance Lambert, the site ranked Wichita as the fifth-best city in the U.S. for “big home” bargains.

Nationwide, according to the piece, the typical home over 3,000 square feet costs $589,700, or about $147 per square foot. For homes featuring more than 3,000 square feet of space in Wichita, the median price per square foot drops to about $102.

The city with the cheapest big homes was Scranton, Pa., (fans of the hit TV show “The Office” might recognize this city) with McAllen, Texas, coming in second. Indianapolis was fourth and was followed by Youngstown, Ohio. Tulsa, Okla., and Little Rock, Ark., also made the top 10.
