On August 23, 2018, the City of Pittsburg Police Department will host The Pain Behind the Badge – Winning the Battle, a powerful training seminar designed to help first responders combat personal and professional stress. This one-day seminar takes place 8:00 am – 3:30 pm Thursday, August 23, at the Memorial Auditorium.

Taught by Sergeant Clarke Paris (Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, retd.) and his wife Tracie Paris, RN, BSN, this seminar helps police personnel, fire personnel, hospital personnel, civilian employees and their families cope with tragedies, often referred to as “critical incidents.” These incidents can include terrorist attacks, mass-casualty incidents, active killer incidents, teen violence, school violence, violent acts that create a victim or violent situation, and personal and professional stress. Designed with first responders and their spouses in mind, this motivational event offers training and resources to combat stressors, which can result in career-ending actions. The seminar will address depression, PTSD, cumulative stress, progression of stress, perception protection, spousal and family involvement, suicide prevention and more.
