Saline County commissioners Tuesday agreed to provide $20,000 annually for the next three years to fund the Salina Community Economic Development Organization.
SCEDO Executive Director Mitch Robinson had requested $50,000 annually for three years.
Commissioner Rodger Sparks said commissioners decided to contribute less because they already fund economic development through the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce and the Salina Airport Authority.
Robinson said he understands the decision.
“We understand $20,000 is workable and that’s what we are glad to be able to get from the commissioners today,” Robinson said.
Robinson said SCEDO will use its cash reserves to make up the difference.
