Kansas Gov. Jeff Colyer announced Wednesday that 11 miles of Highway 69 in Crawford County will be expanded into a four-lane expressway in a $57.4 million project scheduled to begin in 2019.
Colyer visited the admissions office of Pittsburg State University, where he announced the project expansion in a room crowded with Highway 69 supporters, state senators, city officials and PSU representatives.
The 11-mile expansion of Highway 69 will take place north of Pittsburg and will connect Kansas Highway 47 with the “Arma connection.” The “Arma connection,” which is an ongoing Highway 69 project, widens a six-mile stretch south of Fort Scott to the Crawford County line into a four-lane expressway.
