City of Erie officials met with Neosho County Commissioners Thursday evening to seek help with a street rebuilding project.
Erie City Council member Jason Thompson and Superintendent Buddy Stark met with the commission to request funds to help with a project to rebuild 4th Street from Main Street to west of the railroad.
Commissioners requested a breakdown of the project cost and may possibly provide base rock.
The city will apply for a Community Development Block Grant which will require 50 percent matching funds. The city has three options, ranging from a $700,000 total project to a $1.1 million complete construction with concrete. Thompson said officials would like a $900,000 project to completely reconstruct the street with asphalt.
A bridge just past the railroad tracks to the east of the county barn also needs replacement, which can add $100,000 to any of the three options.
