By unanimous decision, the Wellington City Council approved Cornejo and Sons LLC of Wichita to head the Boundary Road Improvement Project that will connect the new Dollar Tree to city utilities. The project will cost the city $281,235.
The project extends water and sewer north to the Dollar Tree lot north of McDonald’s. Cornejo’s will also pave Boundary Street 430 feet to the north where it will connect with a future east-west street called 17th Street to be built by the developers.

The hook up will then be available for any future development to the east or west on the north side of U.S. 160 out to the railroad underpass. The infrastructure will include a sewer extension, a water line, a sewer manhole that will feed into the Beaver Creek line that serves current businesses down the U.S. 160 East Corridor.
This marks the second developmental agreement passed by a Wellington Council in less than a year. A similar agreement for the Cowley College Sumner Campus was approved last fall.
