The Salina City Commission agreed the Salina Police Department should again provide three uniformed officers to work in Salina public schools during the next school year.
Officers will be stationed at Salina Central High School and Salina South High School, and a third will work at Lakewood and South middle schools.
The school district will pay the salaries of the officers during the school year, with the city paying their salaries over the summer.
Commissioner Melissa Rose Hodges asked about providing a fourth. She said she would like each middle school to have a full-time officer.
There had been four in the past, Police Chief Brad Nelson said, but his department no longer has enough officers to provide four.
