On Friday, June 15, the city of Haysville and former Haysville police officer Robert Crites reached an agreement to settle Crites’ employee discrimination lawsuit, which began more than a year ago. In the lawsuit, Crites argued that the city of Haysville discriminated against him because he suffered from a disability, post-traumatic stress disorder. According to the Haysville Sun-Times, Mayor Bruce Armstrong said that “the city paid no money,” implying that any payment to Crites was fully covered under the city’s liability insurance policy.
No information has been shared about the terms of the settlement, but more information could be released once the agreement is finalized.
