At issue is the recently announced intent by the university to shut the John C. Pair Horticulture Center at 1901 E. 95th St. South due to budget shortfalls.

The Derby City Council passed a resolution at its June 26 meeting stating “that the the K-State president, provost and deans are encouraged to re-evaluate the long-term value of the John Pair Center to the economy and the prairie environment, delay for one year any decision to close the center, and support an effort by the faculty and stakeholders to develop a long-term plan for financial sustainability.”
