Aerial luminaries will no longer be allowed in Saline County, and new fees have been adopted for county residents who apply to set off fireworks for public displays and private events.

Saline County commissioners made the changes to the county’s fireworks resolution at their meeting Tuesday.

Residents seeking to use consumer-grade fireworks in their display will pay $75 if the display takes place outside the county fireworks season, which is June 27 through July 5. Residents seeking to set off commercial-grade fireworks in their display will pay $200, regardless of the time of year.

Commissioners voted to ban aerial luminaries, which previously had been banned by the city of Salina.
