Mayor Carla Grund referred a proposed disc golf course in City Park to a subcommittee on Monday after 90 minutes of discussion with a group of local residents visibly dismayed by meeting’s end.
The subcommittee, made up of council members Jason Barnes, Darlene Boss and Gina Graham, plans to study the issue further and provide the mayor and council with a recommendation. A date was not set for their first meeting.
“I will keep at it,” Kyle Goracke, a local educator who proposed a nine-hole pocket disc course in City Park, said after the meeting.
Grund said afterward that those attending should know her concerns are about safety of park users who might be struck by a disc.
“I would think our community would be grateful that we are making safety a concern,” she said.
“I believe the council is taking the proper steps to make sure it’s done correctly.
