Does your book club like to digress into what Wichita needs to do to become a better city?
Does your softball team grumble about how many swings and misses community leaders commit as they strive to move Wichita forward?
You’ve got an opportunity to weigh in with your recommendations as Project Wichita launches the “listening” portion of its action plan. Project Wichita is a collaboration of business, education and government leaders with a goal to learn what people think about their city and the region — and where they want it to be in 10 years. “Any group, anywhere, any time” can share their thoughts by discussing six focus group questions, which can be found on the Project Wichita web site, and then send their input to the Public Policy and Management Center at Wichita State University.
“Our goal is to seek diverse, multi-generational participation from high school students to retirees,” Misty Bruckner, director of WSU’s Public Policy and Management Center, said in a prepared statement.
About 75 private businesses, including hard-to-reach minority business interests, have committed funding to Project Wichita. The group had raised $300,000 from private and public sources, according to a slide presented at this week’s Sedgwick County Commission meeting.
